“Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?" Psalm 77:7-9 (ESV).
These words, these questions, raw and vulnerable, remind me of the times when I've felt spiritually low. And this helps me see that it's okay to be down. It's okay to question. Even question God's faithfulness. It's alright. We all go through seasons.
The wonderful thing is, God is with us, leading us and guiding us even in the darkness, even in the fog. We will have our seasons of depletion, but that's okay. That's not what matters.
What matters is God's faithfulness to us even in our weaknesses. Isn't that what His promises rest on? Isn't that what His covenant is founded in? That even when we are unfaithful, His faithfulness covers us. What courage this can bring in the gloom.
